Course Description:
Esperanto, the international language for a Culture of Peace and Tolerance. With approximately two million speakers around the world, Esperanto is considered a national intangible cultural heritage in Poland and Croatia, and a living language in Hungary where it is possible to be officially examined of this language to get a bachelor’s degree. From its beginnings, Esperanto was linked with the values of peace, tolerance, respect, and Human Rights.
International institutions like UNESCO recommend studying this language as a perfect tool to spread values of peace and tolerance and facilitate communication and understanding between different cultures. Esperanto has a huge literary tradition from all the countries around the world with an important historical presence in several communities of Europe, Brasil, China, and Japan. Esperanto is currently experiencing a new renaissance on the Internet and in the classrooms as a vehicle for integration and intercultural communication and as an accelerator and training model to learn any language.
